Lois Duncan is an
author of suspense novels for young adults.
Dear Mrs. Duncan,
Thank you for taking the time to visit our blog and answer our questions. We are excited and thankful. We love reading Locked in Time together in class. Roles of each character as well as the narrator are assigned to us. It makes reading together so much fun. We look forward to attending English Language Arts class each day to continue reading. We also enjoy identifying your use of literary techniques as we read. We really like all the suspense and your use of foreshadowing.
We appreciate that you wrote such a great novel and we look forward to reading more of your work. It is an honor to have you visit our blog.

Our Questions:
1. Jordyn G. asks, where do you get your ideas and inspirations to write your novels?
2. Dakotah asks, what do you think it takes to make a great writer? What do you feel are
your strongest skills as author?
3. Krystal asks, do you develop an emotional connection with your characters when you are writing?
4. Jordan asks, when you are writing a novel, do you feel that you enter into that world? For example, when I am reading a great novel , I become so involved that I feel as though I am in the book, a part of it.
5. Matthew asks, do you do lots of research before writing a book?
6. Kayla asks, do you really believe that dead people can visit us as Nore’s mother does
in Locked in Time?
7. Shaun asks, where did you get your ideas for Locked in Time?
8. Marcus asks, I was wondering about your reference to Saran Wrap in Locked
in Time. We have learned through our media studies that companies
often approach movie producers to get their products used in movies in order to
advertise. Have you ever been approached by any companies to do this?
9. Jordyn asks, do all your kids know how to swim?
10. Dominique asks, in the beginning of Locked in Time, we are told that
Nore cannot swim. Do you think of these details and use them in your plans
before writing or do you go back and add them?
11. Tyson asks, who are some of your favorite authors?
12. Dorotka asks, what did you intend the main message (theme) to be in Locked in time?
Ms. Bailey told us about your daughter, Kaitlyn. We are very sorry to hear about your
loss. It must be a great pain to carry with you through life. We also think
that you are a very courageous woman to write a book about what happened. She
must have been very happy to have you as her mother.
